Online Roundtable: Why Diversity of Thought Matters

An event for neurodivergent business owners, leaders & aspiring founders exploring how we build diverse communities and why it matters.

How do we create genuinely diverse professional communities whose members embrace critical thinking, forgive, empower, and hear out ideas and positions from across the political and cultural spectrum to create true unity and connection?

...and why does it matter that we do?

If we want our business communities to be truly nourishing, safe and empowering, we need to look at the story and purpose behind them.

We need to embrace our differences instead of pitting them against one another – because if we don’t, we sacrifice unity, connection – and innovation.

Without diversity, we risk our businesses and social initiatives becoming echo chambers. We aren’t challenged when we need to be and, as a result, we often find ourselves making avoidable mistakes.

What’s more, a community that’s too similar culturally, politically – or neurologically – might lead its members to feel the need to mask to fit that community's ideals and norms. As a result, our true, individual beauty can shut down.

And, ultimately, we all make mistakes. Mistakes are essential for growth and progress. So, if we want to create powerful, united communities then these communities must allow and encourage people to forgive each other for mistakes.

Community is at the heart of everything. The societies we form shape the narrative we reinforce and ultimately the initiatives we develop.

Join Mark Blake from Joyfully Different and Matthew Bellringer from Curious Being as we explore:

Why is diversity within communities vital?

  • How do we create communities where we can fully embrace our differences?
  • How do we find complementing skills and complementing traits between people?
  • How can we create spaces where it is safe enough to share our perspective?
